Xinhua summary of Asia-Pacific stocks news at 1100 GMT, July 6

Tokyo shares ended the trading Monday sharply lower as sentiment here was punched by Greek decision against a bailout plan that triggered concerns over a possible quit of Greece from the eurozone.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average tumbled 427.67 points, or 2. 08 percent, from Friday to 20,112.12.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed down 1.09 percent on Monday with the weighted index down 102.27 points at 9,255.96, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 81.53 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.64 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

BEIJING -- Chinese shares showed signs of stabilization on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising 2.41 percent to finish at 3,775.91 points.

However, the Shenzhen Component Index lost 1.39 percent to close at 12,075.77 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, plunged 4.28 percent to end at 2,493.83 points.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower on Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) tumbled 50.48 points, or 2.40 percent, to 2,053.93. Trading volume stood at 463.77 million shares worth 6.28 trillion won (5.58 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market was down again on at the market close on Monday.

It was due to Greece.

The local market was more than one percent weaker after the 'no ' vote in Greece.

The fallout from the Greek referendum has hit the Australian sharemarket, sending the bourse deep into the red as investors switch into defensive mode.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.06 percent lower on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 80. 15 points to 7,455.15. The all-share index went down by 55.21 points, or 1.28 percent, to 4,265.22.

Trading volume reached 519.55 million shares worth 5.84 billion pesos (129.56 million U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 827.83 points, or 3. 18 percent to 25,236.28 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,750.31 and 26, 261.53. Turnover totaled 212.71 billion HK dollars (about 22.45 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 625.22 points on Monday, up 8.79 points, or 1.43 percent, against last Friday's closing session.

A total of 70.037 million shares worth 1.569 trillion VND (72. 43 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Monday.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,717.05 down 17. 19 points or 1.00 percent, and the Emas was at 11,831.96 down 126. 49 points or 1.07 percent.

Turnover increased to 1.54 billion shares valued at 1.41 billion ringgit Malaysia(370.27 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.46 billion shares valued at 1.39 billion ringgit Malaysia( 367.82 million U.S. dollars) on last Friday.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 9.79 points, or 0.29 percent, to close at 3,332.94.

A total of 1.17 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 833.1 million Singapore dollars (617.3 million U.S. dollars).

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSE (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Monday at 4,526.59 points, down 9.28 points or about 0.20 percent from Sunday's finish.

Among a total of 321 issues traded, 116 registered gains and 166 occurred losses while 39 remained unchanged.

Total turnover decreased to about 4.23 billion taka (about 54. 27 million U.S. dollars) on Monday from about 4.68 billion taka ( about 60.02 million U.S. dollars) on Sunday.

---- JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 66.17 points, or 1. 33 percent, to a level of 4,916.74 on Monday.

Some 170,008 transactions were booked, involving 5.29 billion shares worth 4.42 trillion rupiah (about 331.06 million U.S. dollars).

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)index Monday moved down 16.36 points, or 1.10 percent to close at 1,473.23 points.
