Differences still remain in nuclear talks: Iran's FM

Xinhua, July 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Differences over some points in ongoing international talks over Iran's controversial nuclear issue have not been solved, the Iranian foreign minister said Monday, ahead of the Tuesday deadline for a comprehensive deal.

"Nothing is clear yet. We are trying to solve some differences which still remain," Mohammad-Javad Zarif told reporters in Vienna of Austria, according to state IRIN TV.

Zarif asked Iranians to pray for what he called the "good" of the country as the outcome of the marathon of the nuclear negotiations.

On Friday, Zarif said despite some remaining differences, Iran and its counterparts "have never been closer to a lasting outcome."

Iran and P5+1 -- the five UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany -- missed the previously June 30 deadline for a comprehensive deal and agreed to extend the deadline to July 7.

In a possible deal, Iran would suspend some sensitive nuclear activities, and in return, Western states would partially relieve some sanctions imposed on Tehran. Endit
