South Africa beat Bangladesh by 52 runs in first T20 international

South Africa comprehensively overcame Bangladesh by 52 runs in the first of the two-match T20 international series at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.

Batting first, the South African national cricket team, nicknamed the Proteas, set a target of 148 runs in their allocated 20 overs losing four wickets.

Riding on 79 runs from F du Plessis, the visitors set the fighting target in which RR Rossouw contributed 31 runs.

Plessis was adjudged Player-of-the-Match.

South Africa captain AB de Villiers won the toss and elected to bat in the T20 international against the hosts (Tigers).

K Rabada, JP Duminy and D Wiese grabbed two wickets each to steer their side to victory over Bangladesh.

Tigers were all out for 96 runs in 18.5 overs chasing the target of 149 runs.

Bangladesh Shakib Al Hasan scored highest 26 runs.

Bangladesh's Arafat Sunny grabbed two wickets.

South Africa team arrived in Dhaka on June 30 to play two tests, three ODIs and two T20s. The second and final T20 will be held at the same ground in Mirpur on July 7. Endi
