The armed wing of Islamic Hamas movement denied on Saturday that its militants were directly or indirectly involved in the last deadly attacks in the Egyptian Peninsula of Sinai.
Abu Obeida, spokesman of al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas armed wing said in a press statement published in the group's website that his group has never been involved in any attack in Egypt and has no foreign agenda.
The group's spokesman was responding to earlier Israeli media reports which said that Hamas militants were involved in the deadly attacks carried out in Sinai against the Egyptian army.
"Our target is occupied Palestine and our agenda is internal and not foreign and we never though of going for a foreign agenda. Our battle is clear which is only against the Israeli occupiers," said Abu Obeida.
He went on saying that the Israeli accusation to al-Qassam Brigades that it is involved in the latest incidents in Egypt "are lies and rootless. Such reports are aiming at mixing up papers and create a status of chaos."
Earlier this week, following the attacks in Sinai, where more than 100 people killed, a senior Israeli official said that al-Qassam Brigades in Gaza helped the radical militants of the Islamic State in Sinai to carry out the attacks there.
Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman in Gaza told Xinhua that these accusations "are aiming at damaging the ties between Hamas and Egypt," adding that Hamas "doesn't intervene into Egypt's internal affairs." Endit
