China sweep Dominican Republic at FIVB World Grand Prix

China swept Dominican Republic 3-0 here Friday evening for a winning start at the 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix women's volleyball tournament.

Captain Hui Ruoqi had nine kills, two blocks and a pair of aces to lead the Chinese women to the 25-15, 25-12 and 25-9 rout.

"Dominican Republic is a very strong team and we fought to full sets in both of our encounters at the World Championships last year. But this time, they chose to send their young players to the World Grand Prix and I told my players to focus on our game and play our best," said China head coach Lang Ping.

Middle blocker Yuan Xinyue added 11 points for China as Lang Ping rotated the line-up and sent all the players to the court.

"It's like a training session, I hope our bench players can benefit from the experience play better and get prepared for the World Cup."

China produced a total of 7 aces and outblocked Dominican Republic 9-2.

Earlier on Friday, Nataliya Goncharova had 15 kills, three blocks and one ace to lead the Russian women to a 25-20, 24-26, 25-20 and 25-20 victory over Germany.

Margareta Kozuch led Germany with 14 points and Maren Brinker added 13. Endi
