Xinhua, July 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) has named a squad that will represent the country at the 2015 World Cup in Sydney, Australia.

"After consultations with the technical bench and also after assessing the team after the recent Diamond Challenge Cup in South Africa, we have picked a strong team that will enter residential camp on Sunday," Susan Nowell Anek Ongom, UNF president, told Xinhua on Thursday.

The World Cup will take place in Sydney, Australia from Aug. 7-16. Africa will be represented by Uganda, Zambia, Malawi and South Africa.

"Of course we cannot say we shall win the World Cup. But we want to get out of the Group stage and also pick some major wins," said Ongom.

Head coach Fred Mugerwa said he is happy with the way the players are training.

"We still have a few weeks to the World Cup and certainly we shall be a better team," said Mugerwa.

The other teams that will compete at the 2015 Netball World Cup include hosts Australia, New Zealand, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, England, Jamaica, Scotland, Samoa, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
