South China on yellow alert for downpours

Xinhua, July 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Thursday issued a yellow alert for rainstorms in the south of the country.

Heavy rain will pelt parts of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Guangdong and Yunnan provinces as well as Chongqing Municipality and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from Thursday night to Friday, the NMC forecast.

It also warned of possible thunderstorms and gales in these areas.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.Endi
