Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in November this year.

Wea H. Lee, chairman of the Southern News Group, a leading Asian media group located in Houston, told a press conference Wednesday that his group will hold a "World War II 70th Anniversary and Celebration of Diversity & World Peace" event in Minute Maid Park.

"History cannot be forgotten and the tragedy of war must be remembered," Lee said. "We are working together for a brighter and more peaceful world environment."

The event, which will take place on Nov. 7, 2015, is expected to attract more than 40,000 people from different backgrounds, such as Jews, Asians, Latinos and Africans, and they will represent the wishes of the whole world and listen to the voices of diverse peoples while praying for world peace under the same sky, Lee said.

U.S. Congressman Al Green, who witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Southern News Group and Minute Maid Park, praised the group for holding the event.

"What we are doing now is to celebrate diversity and show great appreciation for the many people who served, and we are especially honoring these veterans. I think this is one of the things our great occasion needs to do," he said.

Located in downtown Houston, Minute Maid Park, home to the Houston Astros baseball team, can seat more than 40,000 visitors. Endi
