Myanmar puts new 10,000-kyat bank notes into circulation

Xinhua, July 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Central Bank of Myanmar put a new type of 10,000-kyat currency notes with improved security status into circulation in the country Wednesday.

The new bank notes will not affect the legal tender status of the currently circulating older 10,000-kyat currency notes, the bank said.

The central bank decided to upgrade the notes to further enhance its bank notes' quality and prevent forgery, it said.

The 10,000-kyat bank note is the largest-value denomination of currency notes introduced in Myanmar. Endi
