Ireland sees 8 pct increase in burglaries

Ireland saw an eight-percent increase in burglaries in the 12 months ending March 31 this year, according to latest crime statistics published Tuesday.

Crime statistics from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) set out recent trends in recorded crime, including decreases in most crime categories with a significant drop of 40 percent in homicide offenses reported for 12 months ending 31 March 2015.

In addition, public order offenses were down by 7.9 percent, robbery and related offenses were down by 6.6 percent and weapons and explosives offenses decreased by 8.4 percent, according to the CSO figures. Endit
