1st LD: In first instance, IS beheads 2 women in Syria

Xinhua, June 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Islamic State (IS) militants beheaded two women in eastern Syria, the first beheading of women since the IS group existed in Syria, activists said Tuesday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based watchdog group, said the beheadings took place against two women in eastern province of Deir al-Zour near Iraq.

Beheading of the two women was the first precedent since the IS declared its "caliphate" in Syria a year ago.

Still, the terror-labeled group didn't spare humiliating treatment of women, capturing Iraqi women from the Yazidi sect recently and selling them as sex slaves in Iraq and Syria. Endit
