Myanmar Chinlone contest attracts foreign players

Xinhua, June 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinlone players across the world will take part in Myanmar Chinlone contest to be held in Mandalay, the second largest city of Myanmar, next month, according to organizers on Tuesday.

The contest is scheduled to take place from July 3 to Aug 1.

Players are from the United States, Japan, Canada, Germany and Thailand.

Local Chinlone players and professionals from Mandalay, Yangon, Bago, Myitkyina, Mogok, Dawei, Toungoo, Pyinmana and Myeik will play the game.

Chinlone, a ball made of cane, is Myanmar's century-old sport played by men of all ages, on the roadsides, in the yards, or in the covered Chinlone houses.

Chinlone performers are invited to celebrate the famous Pagoda festivals with their show of Chinlone play. Endi
