Chinese official urges further Sino-Spanish cooperation under "Belt and Road" framework

Xinhua, June 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Monday urged both China and Spain to further promote pragmatic cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative.

Liu Qibao, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, who is in Spain for a visit, made the remarks here during a meeting with Jesus Posada, president of the Congress of Deputies, or the lower house of Spanish parliament.

Liu said China considers Spain as an important partner in the construction of "Belt and Road".

Liu, also head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said that the China-Spain relations have progressed smoothly and cooperation between the two countries in various areas have been fruitful.

Noting that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership, Liu said China highly values its ties with Spain and hopes to further bilateral exchanges between governments, legislative institutions, political parties and the peoples of both countries. He said China hopes to boost economic, trade and financial investment cooperation with Spain, and lift bilateral ties to a higher level.

Posada hailed the friendly relations between both countries and between their legislative bodies, saying the Spanish side attaches high importance to and is willing to take an active part in the construction of China-proposed "Belt and Road." He said Liu's visit will deepen personnel and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Endit
