Vietnam's GDP to expand 6.44 pct in Q2: minister

Vietnam's gross domestic product ( GDP) is expected to expand 6.44 percent in the second quarter (Q2) of 2015, said Vietnam's Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh on Monday.

The country's GDP growth in Q2 remains higher than 6.08 percent in the first quarter (Q1) and registers the highest hike in the past five years, said Vinh at a monthly meeting of Vietnamese cabinet held in capital Hanoi on Monday.

In the first six months of 2015, GDP is forecast to increase 6. 28 percent. Among the figure, agro-forestry-fishery is likely to hike 2.36 percent, industry-construction is expected to go up 9.09 percent while service is estimated to rise 5.9 percent.

Vinh assessed high economic growth in Q2 and during six-month period showed that Vietnamese economy is continuing its recovery trend and is regaining high growth momentum despite difficult global and domestic economic situation.

According to Vinh, Vietnam's index of industrial production ( IIP) during six-month period is forecast to hike 9.6 percent.

The most notable thing is strong recovery of industrial processing and manufacturing with IIP growth of 10 percent, followed by mining with IIP rise of 8.2 percent, Vinh said. Endi
