Gunmen shoot dead journalist in Pakistan

Xinhua, June 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Unidentified gunmen shot dead a journalist in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province on Sunday, police and family said.

Zafarullah Jatak was sleeping when the gunmen stormed into his house and fired at him at Jaffarabad district of Balochistan province. He died at the scene, the family said. Slain Jatak was a correspondent of Urdu-language daily "Intekhab."

The gunmen fled after the early morning attack.

No group claimed responsibility. Police said they are investigating motives behind the murder.

Journalists and family members of the slain journalists staged demonstration against the incident and demanded the gov't to arrest the killers.

Pakistan had been the most dangerous country for journalists in the world, with 14 journalists killed in 2014, the International Federation of Journalists said in January. Endi
