India recalls its envoy in New Zealand

Xinhua, June 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

India on Saturday said that it has recalled its envoy in New Zealand over allegations that his wife had assaulted a staff member.

The Indian External Affairs Ministry said Indian High Commissioner in New Zealand Ravi Thapar has been posted back to the national capital and a detailed probe has been ordered.

"Though no charges were pressed by the service staff member, the Ministry will investigate the matter further. The High Commissioner has been posted back to headquarters," Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup told the media.

The staff member reportedly went missing from the Indian High Commission after being allegedly assaulted by the High Commissioner's wife. Endi
