12 policemen injured as rocket hits ammunition depot in W. Afghanistan

A dozen police personnel sustained injuries as a rocket fired by anti-government militants slammed into a depot of ammunition in western Nimroz province on Thursday evening, a local official said Friday.

"A rocket fired by militants struck an ammunition depot of police in Balouchi area on Dilaram road on Thursday evening, injuring 12 policemen," the official told Xinhua but declined to be named.

Meanwhile, the Nimroz provincial police chief Dilawar Shah Dilawar confirmed the incident but didn't give details.

Militancy and violent incidents have been on rise since April 24 when Taliban militants launched their so-called annual spring offensive in Afghanistan. Endi
