Myanmar sees rise in agri products exports

Xinhua, June 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Myanmar received 627.812 million U. S.dollars from export of agricultural products in the first three months (April-June)of the fiscal year 2015-16, up over 216 million dollars compared with the same period of the previous year, the military-run Myawaddy Daily said Friday.

A sharp rise in dollar price against Myanmar kyats and higher demand of Myanmar's agricultural products in the international market has increased the trade volume of agricultural products, the report quoted the importers of Agricultural products as saying.

The Ministry of Commerce is implementing the national export strategy in order to get good price for exporting items.

According to official statistics, Myanmar registered a trade deficit of 4.9 billion U.S. dollars in the fiscal year 2014-15 ( April 1-March 31).

With its total foreign trade amounting to 27.79 billion U.S. dollars during the period, its export stood at 11.45 billion U.S. dollars while its import took 16.34 billion U.S.dollars.

Myanmar mostly exports agricultural produce, animal by-products, fishery products, mine and forest products while it imports consumer products, raw materials and investment goods. Endi
