Xinhua, June 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Taliban militants overran Waygal district in the eastern Nuristan province on Friday, local media reported.

"Taliban militants after two days of fierce fighting overran Waygal district on Friday morning," Tolo television reported in its news bulletin.

The Waygal district collapsed Friday morning and there are casualties on both sides of Taliban militants and security forces, the official was quoted by the television channel as saying.

No official was immediately available to make comment.
