The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Karl-Anthony Towns with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft on Thursday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Towns, 19, averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in his only season with the Kentucky Wildcats.

"When (commissioner) Adam Silver came out, I saw him, and he said, 'With the No. 1 pick ...', (my heart) was racing," said Towns. "I was just shocked and just extremely happy that I was able to give my parents something they can remember for the rest of their lives."

The Los Angeles Lakers selected Ohio State freshman point guard D'Angelo Russell with the No. 2 overall pick and Duke freshman center Jahlil Okafor went No. 3 overall to the Philadelphia 76ers. Endi
