U.S. police shoot unarmed man in domestic dispute: media

Xinhua, June 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

A man from the U.S. State of Maryland has been shot by several police officers at his home, local media reported Thursday.

The Baltimore County officers were called to the home in Owings Mills around 1 a.m. Thursday for a domestic dispute complaint. Once they arrived, police say the officers heard a disturbance inside and forced their way in.

"Officers then were confronted by an adult male. He produced what they believed to be a gun. Multiple officers then opened fire, " said John Watcher, of the Baltimore County Police.

At least 19 shots were fired, and the unarmed was killed, CBS Baltimore reported on its website.

However, the Associated Press said in a report that the man was taken to a hospital for treatment without mentioning his condition.

Watcher said a woman and two children inside the home were not injured. He said investigators were searching the scene to determine whether the man had a gun. The CBS Baltimore report said the police officers were unharmed and placed on administrative leave during the investigation. Endite
