Latvia hosts VII Nordic-Baltic Choral Festival

Latvia is hosting the VII Nordic-Baltic Choral Festival in its capital city of Riga and regional towns this week.

The festival of choral singing, which is due to begin with an opening ceremony in Vermanes Park in downtown Riga on Thursday night, will continue through Sunday.

The opening ceremony will feature performances of orchestras and choirs from Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden, Iceland, as well as Latvia.

The tradition of the Nordic-Baltic Choral Festival is marking its 20th anniversary this year.

The festival is expected to bring together some 8,000 participants from the Baltic and Nordic countries, organizers said. Endit
