Indonesia, Vietnam to further boost trade ties

Xinhua, June 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indonesia and Vietnam are planning to further explore their trade ties as the two nations targeted 10 billion U.S. dollars in bilateral trade by 2018.

The plan to boost bilateral trade was discussed during a meeting between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Thursday during the latter's official visit to Indonesia.

"During the meeting, President Widodo also conveyed his gratitude for Vietnam's assistance to Indonesians investing in that country," Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said.

President Widodo and Pham Binh Minh also agreed to further detail the steps aimed at facilitating efforts to attain the bilateral trade target through joint meetings of the two countries ' senior officials, said Retno.

Indonesia and Vietnam have upgraded bilateral ties into strategic partnership in 2013 and bilateral trade value between the two countries stood at 5 billion U.S. dollars that year. Endi
