China and India Thursday agreed to coordinate in implementing plans to help Nepal in its rehabilitation and reconstruction.
During their meeting here on the sidelines of the International Conference on Nepal's Reconstruction, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj discussed the possibility of carrying out a trilateral cooperation of China, India and Nepal on economic and trade relations.
In an interaction with Chinese media based here, Wang said China and India are the only two countries which border Nepal and they share the responsibility of leading the international community in helping the country in post-quake reconstruction.
Both countries have provided immediate support to Nepal in the wake of the earthquake on April 25, and both of them have just announced their respective plans to help Nepal, he noted.
Wang recalled that when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China last month, the leaders of the two countries agreed to discuss the possibility of establishing a China-India-Nepal economic corridor.
The two countries should now start work to implement this new consensus, he said, adding that both Swaraj and Nepalese Foreign Minister Mahendra Pandey have responded positively to the proposal from the Chinese side during his respective meetings with them. Endi
