Governor Bobby Jindal of U.S. state of Louisiana announced on Wednesday his bid for the 2016 U.S. presidential race, joining an already crowded Republican Party (GOP) nomination, which has already included 12 other Republican candidates.
According to the Times-Picayune, a newspaper of Louisiana's largest city of New Orleans, Jindal made the announcement before a crowd of more than 1,000 supporters at the Pontchartrain Center in the city of Kenner, Louisiana.
Jindal, 44, the first Indian American to join in the 2016 presidential race, declared himself "running for president of the greatest country in the history of the world."
Jindal said he helped boost public education, the economy and employment in Louisiana.
Several recent polls show Jindal running behind nearly all the other 12 contenders, with merely 1 percent of support among Republican voters, ranking almost at last place.
Front runners so far include former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, brother of former President George W. Bush and son of former President H.W. Bush.
On the Democrat side, front runners include former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, wife of former U.S. President Bill Clinton. Endi
