Portugal registers 9,000 forest fires in first half of 2015

Portugal's Republican Guard Police (GNR) registered around 9,000 fires in the first six months of the year, Portuguese Lusa News Agency reported on Wednesday.

The GNR has registered 8,955 fires by June 23, nearly double of that in the corresponding period last year.

A total of 36 people were detained in relating to the fires, 22 people more than last year. Endi
