Ukraine to open trade offices in world's top economies: PM

Ukraine will set up trade promotion offices in the world's most powerful economies which are Kiev's largest trading partners, the country's Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said here Tuesday.
"We should establish offices for trade promotion in the United States, Brussels, Germany, France, China and some countries in the Middle East," Yatsenyuk said during an enlarged meeting of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
The trade promotion offices should become operational till the end of the current year, he said, ordering the responsible officials from the ministry to start the work on the issue as soon as possible.
The initiative to establish permanent trade missions overseas will promote interests of Ukrainian business at the international level, open up new opportunities for business development and boost the country's trade ties, Yatsenyuk said.
According to the State Statistics Service, Ukraine's overall foreign trade volume last year totaled 108.294 billion U.S. dollars with exports down 13.5 percent to 53.913 billion dollars and imports falling 28.3 percent to 54.381 billion dollars. Endite
