The 41st anniversary of the establishment of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations was celebrated here on Tuesday.

Chen Peijie, consul general of China in Kota Kinabalu, said during a banquet celebrating the ties that the two countries' relations have developed in a stable and healthy way for the past 41 years, with the ties in politics, economics and culture becoming closer and closer.

She said that the opening of China's consulate office in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah state, two months ago was another milestone for the friendship of China and Malaysia.

The "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" initiative put forward by China will bring new opportunity for the cooperation between Malaysia and China. Malaysia, as an important country on this new silk Road, has great potential, which will also promote the cooperation between China and Sabah, she said.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by his representative, Musa Aman, chief minister of Sabah, said that Sabah is both a beneficiary and an active participant in this fruitful relationship between the two countries, and he hoped that more and more Chinese companies would come to invest in Sabah.

Oh Ei Sun, chairman of the Ma Zhong (Malaysia-China) Friendship Association Sabah Council, the undertaker of the celebrative event, said that his organization will continue to make contribution to the development of the two countries, looking back on its part in promoting the ties between China and Malaysia in the past two years.
