U.S. heavy armament deployment in 6 EU countries confirmed

Polish Minister of National Defense Tomasz Siemoniak on Tuesday confirmed U.S. heavy armament would be deployed in six European countries, including Poland.

During a briefing, Siemoniak said the deployment would contribute to strengthening security in the region.

He said the decision was political, adding details were yet to be discussed and negotiated, including those around law and exact distribution.

U.S. Minister of Defense Ash Carter first made the armament announcement Tuesday during a visit to Tallin, Estonia.

Carter announced that around 250 tanks, armored vehicles and other military equipment is to be deployed in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania and Poland. Endit
