Delhi High Court refuses bail to French woman accused of killing Chilean Senator

Xinhua, June 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Delhi High Court has reportedly denied bail to a French woman who has been facing extradition to Chile for her alleged involvement in the murder of a Chilean Senator.

The 55-year-old French national, Verhoeven Marie Emmanuelle, was arrested in February this year from the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh after she entered this country from Nepal.

She had moved the Delhi Court, challenging her arrest, claiming that India and Chile did not have any extradition treaty on the day of her arrest.

The French national was accused of being involved in the killing of Chilean Senator Jaime Guzman Errazuriz on April 1, 1991. Endit
