Austria adds funding for refugees' German language training

Xinhua, June 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Austrian government has approved 13.3 million euros (15 million U.S. dollars) in additional funding for German language courses for refugees.

The money will provide 10,000 more slots at the language courses, officials said Monday. The new funding will come on top of the existing 21 million euros (22.66 million dollars) intended for German courses for over 11,000 refugees for 2015.

Some of the new funds will go to other training programs with the goal of improving job qualifications. Austria has financed German language courses for 28,590 people last year, with a budget of almost 30 million euros. Endi
