Pakistan condemns Taliban attack on Afghan parliament

Xinhua, June 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Pakistan on Monday condemned the Taliban attack on the Afghan parliament and praised the Afghan security forces for eliminating the attackers.

A group of the Taliban bombers stormed the parliament building when the session was going-on. The Afghan interior officials said all the attackers were killed in several hours of a standoff.

"The government of Pakistan strongly condemns the attack on the building of Wolesi Jirga (lower house of the parliament) in Kabul. We commend the role of Afghan security forces in effectively countering this act of terrorism," the Foreign Ministry said.

"We stand with our Afghan brothers in our common struggle against terrorism," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a statement.

He said the government of Pakistan reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and reaffirms its resolve to fight terrorism in close coordination with the government of Afghanistan.

The Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack and claimed inflicting casualties on the officials. Endi
