Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o- cha left on Monday for Naypyidaw, Myanmar's capital, to join four other Southeast Asian leaders at a subregional summit.

The top leaders of Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar are attending the sixth Ayeyawaddy-Chao Praya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) summit which will run until Tuesday, said deputy Thai government spokesman Virachon Sukonthapatipak.

Attending the ACMECS summit are Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Myanmar President Thein Sein besides the Thai prime minister.

In pursuit of shared, sustainable interests, the ACMECS participant states have laid out development plans in area of trade, investment, manufacturing industry, agriculture, transportation, energy and tourism, among others, the deputy spokesman said.

The ACMECS development plans will be implemented for three years beginning next year, he said.

Thailand which was earlier viewed as a recipient country will remarkably become a contributing country in relation to the implementing of those plans, he said. Endi
