Host China A team, comprising Ding Junhui and Xiao Guodong, was beaten by Scotland 4-1 here on Saturday at the Snooker World Cup quarterfinals.

Defending champions Ding/Xiao, maintaining the winning streak since the group stage, were regarded as the title favorites here by the home fans.

But Ding made his fans down when he lost to John Higgins in the second frame. Ding's turnover of the key time brought the score to 0-2 after two frames.

China A never lost two constitutively frames in the World Cup before.

In the third frame, Higgins had a break of 44 points, but Ding missed the reversing chance and helped the Scotsman have a break of 60 points again.

Although Ding's win over Stephen Maguire pulled one frame back in the fourth, Xiao couldn't pass over Huggins who had boosted confidence in the early time.
