Serbia beat Brazil in the final of FIFA U-20 World Cup, with Nemanja Maksimovic scored at the end of the extra time.
With the 5-0 demolition of Senegal, Brazil players responded to their attack-minded coach Rogerio Micale last match. With the goal- scoring burden shared across the team, and danger threatened from almost every position, Brazil is the most popular team to win the championship before the match.
Serbia on the other hand had tough games of extra times in each of the three matches before.
The fans saw a cagey start of the final by both teams. Serbia is the team which led at first in the match. In the 70 minute, Nemanja Maksimovic burst into the Brazilian penalty area down that right-hand side and chipped a delicate cross to the back post. Stanisa Mandic scored from inside the six yard box.
The lead didn't last long. Less than three minutes later, Andreas Pereira worked his way into the Serbian penalty area and cut inside onto his right foot before placing the ball with wonderful precision past Serbian goalkeeper into the net.
Pereira also had a chance to seal victory in the 90 minutes, but Serbian goalkeeper parried his free-kick away.
Brazil had the better of the opportunities in the added 30 minutes. But Maksimovi finally scored in 118 minute after a lung- busting run.
It is the first time for Serbian U-20 join the event, and also their first title of championship. Endi
