Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Friday closed down moderately by 60.2 points at 11,040.1 points.

The negotiations on the Greek debt issue are inconclusive and there is still hope that an agreement can be reached. The blue-chip index opened higher and plunged in the afternoon. It lost 0.54 percent.

ThyssenKrupp AG topped the list of risers, up by 2.4 percent. Commerzbank AG advanced by 1.22 percent. Continental AG climbed by 1.16 percent. Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor company, rose by 0.61 percent. K+S Aktiengesellschaft, a fertilizers company, went up by 0.2 percent.

Linde AG, an industrial gas company, dropped by 2.44 percent and adidas AG lost 1.68 percent. Deutsche Bank AG slipped by 1.58 percent. Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz, a home care company, slid by 1.48 percent. The utilities company E.ON SE went down by 1.35 percent.

The turnover stood at 8.95 billion euros (around 10.18 billion U.S. dollars ). Bayer AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 1.02 billion euros (around 1.16 billion U.S. dollars). Endit
