The Sri Lankan government on Friday said that India had not held any discussions with Sri Lanka over establishing a road and rail link connecting the two countries across the Palk Strait.

Sri Lankan Deputy Foreign Minister Ajith P. Perera said that despite media reports that India's central government was considering building a road and rail link to Sri Lanka to enhance transport between the two countries, no discussions had been held with Sri Lanka over the matter.(Sri Lanka-Traffic)

ISLAMABAD -- At least 20 militants were killed and 18 others injured in an air-raid by Pakistani army in the country's northwestern tribal area of Khyber Agency on Friday,said an army statement.

Inter-Services Public Relations, the mouthpiece of Pakistani army, issued the statement saying that the troops backed by army jet fighters pounded several hideouts of militants in Khyber Agency, a volatile tribal region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.(Pakistan-Militants)

SINGAPORE -- The Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) will arrive in Singapore sooner or later due to the country's global connectivity, said Singapore's Health Minister Gan Kim Yong on Friday.

Gan's comment echoes with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's remarks on June 11. Lee thought that it is a "matter of time" before Singapore has its first MERS case due to its inter- connectivity, therefore the city state must get prepared for MERS. (Singapore-MERS)

HANOI -- Vietnam's Ministry of Health on Friday denied a rumor of one patient infected with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in Hanoi.
