HK Chief Executive proposes 11 initiatives to improve livelihood, propel economic growth

Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said Friday that the government will propose 11 initiatives to improve people's livelihood and propel economic growth to the meeting of the Finance Committee of Legislative Council next Friday.

The initiatives include the relief measures in the Budget this year, enhancement of remuneration package for District Council members, construction of rehab centers and a residential care home, adjustment of pay for civil servants according to the 2013 Pay Level Survey and for 2015-16, establishment of a 1-billion-HK- dollar recycling fund and a 1.5-billion-HK-dollar increase in commitment for small and medium-sized enterprises funds, said Leung at media session.

"Now that the constitutional development proposal by the government has been blocked by the minority of Legislative Council (LegCo) members, we need to move on with economic and livelihood issues that are already in the pipeline so that the community," he said.

The application for funding for establishing the Innovation and Technology Bureau will follow these items, Leung said, adding he hoped LegCo would respond positively and take care of both economic and livelihood issues. Endi
