Roundup: Hong Kong stocks close 0.25 pct higher

Hong Kong stocks rose 65.87 points, or 0.25 percent, to close on Friday at 26,760.53 points.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 26,701.72 and 27, 011.95. Turnover totaled 140.61 billion HK dollars (18.14 billion U.S. dollars).

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 77.32 points, or 0.58 percent, to 13,186.05 points.

All of the four sub-indices gained ground. The Utilities sub- index rose the most at 1.26 percent, followed by the Commerce & Industry at 0.41 percent, the Properties at 0.19 percent, the Finance at 0.04 percent.

Banking giant HSBC, which accounts for the largest weighting of the Hang Seng Index, advanced 0.14 percent to 72.5 HK dollars.

Bank of East Asia, one of the largest local banks in Hong Kong, ended flat at 34.8 HK dollars.

Local bourse operator HKEX edged down 0.14 percent to 283.2 HK dollars.

China Mobile, China's dominant mobile carrier, gained 0.56 percent to 99.55 HK dollars. China Unicom, another Chinese telecom giant, fell 0.5 percent to 12.02 HK dollars.

Local property stocks closed mixed. Sun Hung Kai, one of Hong Kong's largest property developer by market value, rose 1.98 percent to 128.8 HK dollars. Henderson Land lost 0.47 percent to 53.1 HK dollars. CKH Holdings rose 2.46 percent to 116.8 HK dollars.

Mainland-based financial stocks also closed mixed. Bank of China climbed 0.16 percent to close at 32.15 HK dollars. China Construction Bank rose 0.8 percent to 7.54 HK dollars. Bank of Communication went down 0.26 percent to 7.73 HK dollars. ICBC lost 0.47 percent to 6.34 HK dollars.

As for energy stocks, China's top refiner Sinopec rose 0.15 percent to 6.56 HK dollars. PetroChina, the country's largest oil and gas producer, gained 0.94 percent to 8.64 HK dollars. CNOOC moved up 0.36 percent to 11.02 HK dollars. Endi
