Tokyo stocks end 0.92 pct higher on bargain hunting, weak yen

Tokyo stocks ended 0.92 percent higher on Friday as investors went bargain hunting after three straight sessions of decline, with sentiment aided by the U.S. dollar's appreciation against the yen.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 183.42 points, from Thursday at 20,174.24. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 14.35 points, or 0.89 percent, to 1,631.01.

Gainers were led by textiles and apparel, shipping as well as pulp and paper issues.

The turnover was 2,961.03 billion yen (about 24.08 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
