Spanish treasury places 3.459 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury on Thursday placed treasury bonds to the value of 3.459 billion euros (about 3.943 billion U.S. dollars) on the market registering a demand of 9.026 billion euros.

A total of 1.973 billion euros worth of 10-year bonds carried an average interest rate of 2.349 percent, which was above the 1.951 percent of the previous issue held on June 11.

A further 656 million euros worth of five-year bonds fetched an average interest rate of 1.282 percent, which was slightly above the 1.243 percent of the previous auction held on June 11.

The remaining 830 million euros worth of three-year treasury bonds fetched an average interest rate of 0.655 percent, which was above the 0.490 percent of the previous auction.

After the auction Spain's risk premium stood at 146.8 points and Spain's 10-year bond interest rate stood at 2.287 percent.

The Spanish treasury will hold the last auction of the month on June 23. (1 euro = 1.14 U.S. dollars) Endit
