French president picks new faces in minor gov't reshuffle

Xinhua, June 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

French President Francois Hollande on Wednesday named new junior ministers in a minor government reshuffle.

In a press release issued by the presidency office, the Elysee, Hollande picked Martine Pinville to be in charge of trade, handicrafts and consumption.

The 56-year-old Socialist lawmaker replaces Carole Delga, who quitted her post to compete for the presidency of Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrenees region.

Forced to resign in March due to health problems, Genevieve Fioraso handed the portfolio of higher education and research, to Thierry Mandon.

In "an adjustment" of his executive staff, Hollande also named Clotilde Valter a junior minister for state reform and simplification.

Speaking to TF1 private TV channel on Tuesday, Prime Minister Manuel Valls noted that the reshuffle "is not an upheaval of the government's balances", adding "the team I lead remains in place to continue the work that the president has assigned us." Endit
