Rahul Gandhi slams Indian gov't development agenda

India's main opposition Congress party's vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday came down heavily on the central government.
At a protest meeting of sanitation workers in the national capital, Gandhi scoffed at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's development agenda in the garb of land acquisition.
"Modi thinks he can make any sort of promise. When the army of India (workers and farmers) stands, nobody can challenge you. We will ensure that your demands are met," he said.
The sanitation workers were on a strike last week over non- payment of their salaries, which was called off last week following Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung's release of money to the civic bodies. Endit
