Singapore stocks close 0.84 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 27. 82 points, or 0.84 percent, to close at 3,325.91.

A total of 1.38 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 26 billion Singapore dollars (940 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 287 to 137, while 540 others finished unchanged.

The STI index went down 25.04 points, or 0.75 percent, to close at 3,298.09 on Tuesday. Endi
