Tokyo shares end slightly lower

Tokyo shares end slightly lower on Wednesday as investors sought to cash-in gains after recent rallies and caution before the outcome of a U.S. central bank meeting due out later this day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched down 38.67 points, or 0.19 percent, from Tuesday at 20,219.27.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 6.16 points, or 0.38 percent, at 1, 633.70.

Decliners were led by steel products, warehousing and utilities.

The turnover was about 2,181.7 billion yen (about 17.68 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
