German benchmark DAX index closes higher

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday closed up slightly by 59.04 points at 11,044.01 points.

After days of losses, the blue-chip index advanced slightly by 0.54 percent.

K+S Aktiengesellschaft, a supplier of standard and speciality fertilizers, topped the list of risers, up by 2.08 percent. Bayer AG advanced by 1.98 percent. Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA, a health care group, rose by 1.96 percent. Merck KGaA, a leading pharmaceutical, chemical and life science company, climbed by 1.61 percent. Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor company, went up by 1.19 percent.

On the other hand, Deutsche Lufthansa AG lost 0.76 percent. The utilities company E.ON SE slipped by 0.4 percent. BMW AG St and BASF SE went down by 0.24 percent and 0.2 percent.

The turnover stood at 3.79 billion euros (around 4.26 billion U.S. dollars ). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 325.82 million euros (around 366 million U.S. dollars). Endit
