Russia to supply 12 troop-carrying helicopters to Belarus

Xinhua, June 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Russia will supply 12 troop-carrying helicopters to Belarus between 2016 and 2017, local media reported Tuesday.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry and the Russian Helicopters, a leading player in the global helicopter industry, signed a contract for 12 troop-carrying helicopters Mi-8MTV-5.

Kazan Helicopter, a helicopter factory of Russian Helicopters, produces Mi-8MTV-5, which is both for transport and military use. The helicopters have a modern complex of flight navigation, radio communication and mission equipment.

The helicopters can be used in all weather conditions and are considered one of the best of their class. According to Alexander Mikheev, CEO of Russian Helicopters, Belarus is Russia's important partner in military-technical cooperation.

"These helicopters will help our allied state to strengthen the defense capability and extend the potential of armed forces," he added. Endite
