Sato Kilman replaces Joe Natuman as Vanuatu's PM

Xinhua, June 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sato Kilman was elected as Vanuatu's new prime minister on Thursday after his predecessor Joe Natuman was ousted in a vote of no confidence in parliament, local media reported.

The no confidence motion against Natuman filed by the opposition was carried by 27 votes for and 25 against, local news website the Vanuatu Daily Digest said.

The new prime minister was then elected and the contestants were Kilman and Ham Lini. Kilman obtained 28 votes while Lini 22.

Last week, Natuman sacked Kilman as foreign minister after the latter indicated that he was prepared to support a motion of no confidence against Natuman.

In Vanuatu's politics, no confident motions are commonly seen. Endi
