Summer flu season starts in HK

Xinhua, June 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Center for Health Protection (CHP) of Hong Kong's Department of Health on Wednesday urged people to stay vigilant against seasonal influenza.

The call came as the latest surveillance data showed that Hong Kong has entered the summer flu season.

The percentage of positive respiratory specimens received by the CHP has increased from 8 percent in the week ending May 23 to 14.8 percent last week.

The number of flu-like outbreaks in institutions also increased, from three in the week ending May 16 to 10 in the week ending June 6.

People aged 80 or above are advised to receive the Southern Hemisphere Seasonal Influenza vaccination, and other people should maintain good personal and environmental hygiene. Endi
