Xinhua, June 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng will take part in the week-long 7th Strait Forum, which will kick off on June 14 in the coastal city of Xiamen in southeast China's Fujian Province, a spokesman from the Chinese mainland said Wednesday.

Yu is chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

A number of politicians from Taiwan, including vice chairman of Kuomintang (KMT) party Hau Lung-pin, will attend the event, said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, at a regular press conference.

Taiwan's People First Party Secretary-General Chin Ching-sheng, New Party Chairman Yok Mu-ming, and Non-Partisan Solidarity Union Chairman Lin Pin-kun will also participate in the forum.

According to the spokesman, the forum will feature an array of activities on youth cooperation and grassroots exchanges. Topics on economic development across the strait will be discussed at the event.

"The mainland has attached great importance to expanding youth cooperation across the strait and will continue creating favorable conditions for young people's studies, internships and new businesses," Ma said. Endi
